The students in CCE have been VERY busy during the month of December doing various activities to celebrate the season of Advent and to prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas. Both the Wednesday and Sunday classes had prayer services covering the topic of reaching out beyond the limits of Temple and Belton to help out the children & adults at the mission Kids2Kids. Maria Kaseberg sang songs and spoke to the Wednesday classes while showing pictures of the children & adults at the Kids2Kids mission in Guatemala. The Sunday CCE classes heard stories and saw pictures of the experiences of Dr. Alan Barkus who has gone on several mission trips to South America to assist the people of Kids2Kids.
The purpose of our CCE students getting involved in helping the Kids2Kids Mission, is to teach them to see the whole world as a part of their community and the Body of Christ, not just the City of Temple, Belton, or surrounding areas and also to understand that one way to prepare for the coming of Our Savior is to reach out to those less fortunate than ourselves. The students individually and as classes will do various activities to raise money for the mission’s teacher scholarship program. Monica Bielss’ & Milinda Sill’s 2nd grade class is collecting aluminum cans for their project starting January 9th. Anyone wanting to donate aluminum cans can bring them to the Religious Education Building during CCE classes, starting Weds. Jan. 9th (6:15 pm – 7:30 PM) and Sunday Jan. 13th (9:30 AM – 10:45 AM). Any amount of money raised will be helpful.
Some of the other classes are having students do extra chores around their house and/or neighborhood, then donating money earned to Kids2Kids. During the months of January and February, you may see CCE students before and/or after mass on the sidewalks selling baked goods or other things to raise money for the adults and children of Kids2Kids. Please be supportive of our parish youth in their social outreach with your spiritual and monetary support.
